Thursday, May 22, 2003 Let's face it... being chivalrous, while being a nice tenet to live by - is extremely frustrating. posted by Mark | 11:12 PMSunday, May 11, 2003 As promised, a few pics from the new flat. posted by Mark | 4:02 PMThursday, May 08, 2003 So - updates for the last few days. Tuesday night I dropped by the Maple Leaf pub (the Canadian Pub in London). I was going to have a quick beer before running off to Windsor to pack before moving the next day. Turns out the last Ottawa v Philly game was on - so I had to stay and watch it. I met a bunch of students from the LSE and proceeded to kick off a night of food and drink - including going to this *insane* (like, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas insane) restaurant. I missed the last train to Windsor, so I had to take a train that went close by and cabbed the rest. I ended up staying up until 3am packing, only to have to wake up at 7am to pack the car and drive into London (twice) and wait for the cleaners/inventory clerks, etc. Moving is serious business over here.
Monday, May 05, 2003 I may have a plan - and I dare say, it's cunning. posted by Mark | 10:41 PMSunday, May 04, 2003 Nigel's sister, Erica is in London for a working vacation. We spent the weekend walking around London. Saturday was the west end; Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and Buckingham Palace. Sunday was the south bank. We went to the Design Museum, which was a bit of a disappointment. It was a decent enough museum, but too small. With so many aspects of design - the space is too small to really serve the purpose. They had an exhibition on 'British Designers' of the year. Both Rockstar Games and Jonathan Ive are featured. posted by Mark | 9:16 PMMonday, April 28, 2003 I arrived in Madrid this evening. Ron and I went to Casa Botin - for a fantastic meal. Also having opened in 1725 - it happens to be the oldest restaurant in the world. Amazing.... posted by Mark | 11:30 PMSaturday, April 26, 2003 I finally found a new flat. It's right on Charing Cross road, round the corner from Leicester Square and Covent Garden. It's an amazing location - 'the centre of the universe' as the agent said, only semi-ironically. This is a huge load off my mind, as I was faced with the prospect of being homeless at the end of the month. I've already discovered the benefits of being in that location - right around the corner we went for a quick drink, and there was the world-wide premier of X-Men 2... the buzz about the place is palpable.
